Yes, I’m still alive and yes, my blog still sucks. But let’s continue with some positivity! The third thing I like in Aion, is marks! (Maybe it’s already in WoW, but I’ve never played it, so bear with me.)

A mark

The group leader can assign marks to enemy mobs, like numbers (1 to 9), Zzz signs, smilies, etc. Woo!

shapeShapeshifting! Nothing better when you’re losing a fight, than bam! You turn into a furious little.. thing.

In other news, Killer Guides has asked me to judge the submissions at their beta key giveaway contest. Give it a try, if you aren’t in the Aion beta already ;)

Geez… I just can’t get myself to write a proper article.. what’s up with me?

Anyway, this is the first part of the “Aion: Things I Like” series. These are pretty much random thoughts about cool things in Aion. Here’s the first one, glowing eyes!

glowing

I’ve been quiet for a few weeks now, but worry not, I have returned! I’m finished with my graduation exams, and there’s a 99% chance that I will continue my studies at the university of my choice in September.

Anyway, I will try to get back in the blogging business soon. Unfortunately, because of the lack of MMO to focus on, I don’t have any inspiration. This will probably change with the lift of Aion’s NDA; or with DDO going free. Until then, expect some crappy articles :P

If you are fairly familiar with Team Fortress 2, you probably know about the achievement system. There are numerous unlocks that you can complete by doing various things. If you reach a number of unlocks with a class, you get weapon unlocks.

It’s all good, except for one thing: these unlocks can be done even when you’re alone on a server. Thus, anyone can create a passworded server where he/she is able to reach achievements that would be pretty hard on a full server. A few examples:

  • Powerhouse Offense: Win 2Fort with a shutout.
  • Lightning Offense: Win Well in 5 minutes or less.
  • Relentless Offense: Win Hydro without giving up a capture.
  • Impenetrable Defense: Successfully defend Dustbowl without giving up a capture.
  • Impossible Defense: Successfully defend Gravel Pit without giving up a capture.
  • Vanguard Party: Be the first on your team to start capturing a control point in a round.
  • No-Hitter: Steal and then capture the enemy intelligence without firing a shot.
  • Side Retired: Capture the last point in a CP map.
  • Triple Steal: Capture the enemy intelligence 3 times in a single CTF round.
  • Set the Table: Initiate 10 point captures that ultimately succeed.
  • Triple Play: Capture three capture points in a row in one life.

There are a few more I did not care to list, but you get the idea. I’m not sure if it can be called cheating, since the game mechanics allow these to be unlocked this way.

Even though, I will always prefer unlocking achievements the hard way, instead of soloing.
